LayerView: Packet Colouring.

LayerView's Packet Colouring feature allows you choose how different packets are coloured in the Low Level view.

The packets to colour are specified by means of a packet filter expression.

To open the Packet Colours dialog, open the Tools menu and select Packet Colours....
This dialog shows all the packet colour rules which are currently in use. From here you can add and remove rules, or change how the rules are applied.

Rules are processed in-order, and the first match for each packet is used. The order of the rules can be changed using the green up/down arrow buttons.

To delete a rule, select the rule and click Delete.

The Show filter expressions checkbox toggles between showing the filter expression or rule name in the list box.

To add a rule, click New Rule.... This brings up the Packet Colour Rule dialog:

1. Specify a rule name in the Rule Name box - this is for your own use. It will be shown in the Packet Colours dialog (above).

2. Enter a filter expression in the box below. This specifies which packets will be affected by this rule. Click here for more information on filter expressions.

3. Change the appearance of the packet by choosing text and background colours. Colours can be changed by clicking the colour boxes for either "text colour" or "background colour".

4. Click OK.
